you got a damn good deal on the tank. check at your local pet store for a mesh cover, they aren't that expensive and they fit nicely over the tank

I got my 55g fo the same price in the same condition. Yeah that's a really good deal. Normally a 125g is $200-$300 Maybe more if you go to petco/petsmart. So, yeah, you did good. The lid shouldn't cost more then $40-50 if you need a costum top and if you find one that fits it should be about the same price.

125 gallon tank for 40 bucks is a hell of a deal ! For a top you could measure the length and width of your tank. Using plastic square tubing a few centimeters bigger then the tanks length and width and use mesh in the middle of the tank.
